My 200-Hour Teacher Training

Posted Mar 30 08 11:35pm 1 Comment

Well, I am in the midst of my 200-hour teacher training at Karuna Yoga in Los Angeles. It will go for 5 more weeks. So far, it has been great. Everything that concerned me about my brief weekend intensive with Shiva Rea has been fixed in this training. Don't get me wrong - Shiva is brilliant, but I really think her trainings are better for people with prior yoga teacher training experience.

In this training we are really learning the basics, which is what I have wanted to learn. The class size is small, 8 people, and everyone is super nice. The teacher is fantastic and she brings in guest speakers on various topics. I'm having a great time, though I am tiiiiiired.

After I get my 200 hours I would not mind taking some more modules with Shiva as CEUs but I'm really glad I decided to switch out of Shiva's program and do this program instead.

Yay you and your yoga teacher training! I trained at Yogaworks and loved it. I never intended to become a yoga instructor but after practicing acupuncture I had so much to say about the healing aspect of yoga that I went for it. I've been teaching 3 years now and I LOVE it. Good luck. I'm totally rooting for you. (Practice some viparita karani/legs up the wall when you're tired. It's my favorite restorative.)
