Bring The Weight Room To The Office

Posted Jul 07 08 7:12pm

If you are having a slow day at the office, have a commitment and can’t make it to the gym, or you just want to get some blood pumping through your body, you can do so all without leaving the tight confines of your office or cubicle.

Find a few minutes here or there during the day to add some activity is great. It will help keep you lifted and awake. Who doesn’t want to fall asleep after staring at the computer for hours? Taking this time to concentrate on something else can be really beneficial.

So what do I mean? Office exercises are moves that can be done without having to put on your workout attire or moving far from your chair.

Here are some ideas:

  • Dips off your chair
  • Use a stability ball for a desk chair for an hour or so to work the core.
  • Tight tummies (off and on sit up tall and tighten your abs; hold this for as long as possible, breath and relax and repeat).
  • Wall squats (with back against the wall, hold a squat for as long as possible)
  • Bring a long bands (then you can do almost anything such as curls, rows, squats right at your desk with resistance)

Those are just a few ideas. Be creative. If you are sitting at a desk all day it is important that you think about adding some of these to your day. No one will think you are weird and they will probably catch on too.

Take 5-10 minutes every 90 minutes to do something active!
