I have some brick walls in my life, I am sure you do also. We all do. At the moment I am having a few brick walls trying to block me from being all that I can be and reaching my goals. For now, I will keep some of those brick walls just between God and I, but I have a desire to share a couple right now. I am sharing these in hopes that my own brick walls will help you break through yours and give you hope and determination that you can do it. Because if I can, then so can you!
The first brick wall in my life right now is me needing to go back to my former career of being a teacher. My husband and I both are currently full-time parents and full-time independent Beach Body coaches. We love doing both so much! The problem is, while we are making enough money to pay our bills, provide for our family and even have some left over for extras, we are having to pay for health and dental insurance out of pocket. Let me tell you, this is REALLY expensive and very poor coverage. We pay a lot for very little. We will have a co-pay when we see a doctor, and that is fine. Then, a week later we get a bill for the previous doctor visit. The reason we have to pay a second bill is because we also have a large deductible and we have to pay towards that along with paying a co-pay and along with paying a huge premium each month. It is a financial killer. Since I am the one who can most easily return to my former career and get the best health coverage for our family. I am the one who needs to return to teaching. I am sad about having to leave my children and work all day. but also thankful that my husband will be home to take care of them. What a blessing. But, the brick wall is me finding a job. I resigned from teaching and getting back in is not easy task. I have not even had luck getting an interview yet. even though I have lots of experience, teaching awards and great references.
The second brick wall I want to share about is that the La Luz trail head is closed down due to extreme drought here in Albuquerque, which puts us in a high risk for forest fires. La Luz is the race I am entered in that is a nine mile run up the Sandia mountains. I need to train on the race course and get used to the high altitude and mountainous climb in order to be able to make it to the finish line. I have not been able to train it for three weeks now and the race is on August 3rd, if the trail even gets re-opened by then. It has been a bit frustrating and nerve racking, but I have found alternative courses to train on that somewhat simulate the actual race course, and I can train the first two miles of the race, which is two miles on paved road up to the trail head. So, I am doing the best with what I have and I am not going to let the brick wall of the trail head being closed keep me from reaching my goals in this race.
