What I've noticed about arthritis is that it is not an even path. I am not always in the same degree of discomfort or pain. In fact, symptoms can vary wildly from one day to the next.
Lately I have felt well enough to do small even hikes (I am recovering from a bleeding incident so need to build back my strength) and have not had much discomfort just going about everyday errands. Yesterday, though, my right leg suddenly kicked into major painsville. It was like a twist, only there was no twist, and then sharp pain in my thigh near my hip.
Sometimes I can walk out a pain like this. I will walk around and it will work itself out. Other times there is no chance; it won't improve. I would not attempt to ride my bike (as I'd hoped to do today) while I feel like this.
So I am being cautious. I will do arthritis exercises (from the book Arthritis Rx) and see if that helps a bit. Even if it doesn't make a big difference I know I will be glad I did them.
Please understand: I write to share my actual feelings and experiences. I do have a plan, I am getting better, but it isn't all smooth. It is important to me to share what I am going through as well as what I have done so far. This is my first post here but I have maintained a blog on arthritis for a while now. In that blog I explain that my main focus is on the strategy outlined in Arthritis Rx. I am also refining the general dietary recommendations in that book.
