The Joys of Autumn

Posted Oct 02 2011 2:06pm
It's been ages since my last post. I apologize. I guess that's what happens when you're starting a business. Even as I'm sitting here writing, my to-do list is pushing its way to the front of my mind and I'm wrestling it down.

Well, the only thing that can take my mind off of it is to think about how excited I am for autumn. The leaves are just beginning to turn red on the east coast. The tips of some of the trees are all tinged fire-y red. It's beautiful.

I have found that focusing on the things in life that you love eases the mental burden of chronic illness. I hope that you will try it and see if it works for you.

Some of the things I love about autumn are:
The colors, of course
Waking up to a chilly hardwood floor and slipping on my comfy socks
Making butternut squash soup
The smell of wood-burning fireplaces
Halloween decorations
Apples, roots, kale and winter squash
Family gatherings for Thanksgiving
Crunchy leaves underfoot
Glowing candles
Cinnamon and pumpkin spice treats
Crisp breezes
Fleece jackets
Boots!
The 25 days countdown to Christmas on ABC Family
Christmas tunes
Frank Sinatra on the radio
Twinkle lights
Dark nights
Traditions
Cuddling up under blankets

Doesn't it make you smile? What else? I could go on forever...
