So What About all the Toxins?

Posted Sep 22 2009 11:20am
Sticking with the theme of my last post, and going into more detail of what happens to those toxins once they are in the body, I’ve copied some more excerpts from various books I’ve been reading. I know it’s nothing compared to my superb writing skills, but these authors say it so much more eloquently than I do. After reading these words, and many more, I couldn’t ignore my instincts telling me that this is the direction I needed to go. Now I am still not “cured”, but everyday I get closer.
Below is information on how toxins can cause disease and deterioration. If this completely depresses you again just like my last post, don’t worry! Next week I’ll be posting on what you can do about it. Or you can head over to your library and check out the books for your self!

The following is an excerpt from Juicing, Fasting, and Detoxing for Life by Cherie Calbom, MS with John Calbom, MA

“Most of us keep our floors swept, and our clothes washed, and give our cars periodic oil changes. We understand the importance of cleaning and caring for our possessions, but we often neglect our own bodies. Our bodies are able to handle a certain amount of toxicity because we have immune systems, and organs of elimination designed to clean out many of these toxic substances, but they can handle only so much before they became overwhelmed by the huge number of toxins that we ingest from the environment—air, water and food.
The result is that substances that are not broken down and excreted are generally stored in the intestines, gallbladder, kidneys, liver, lymph, fat cells and skin. The colon, which is designed to eliminate solid waste, can become sluggish and build up putrefaction. The liver can get congested and unable to properly filter the blood. The kidneys can get overwhelmed in their attempt to excrete toxic-laden urea. As a result, our functions are unable to function properly; nutrients are not absorbed well and poisons are reabsorbed into our bloodstream. Toxins are then stored in fat cells, they collect in other spaces and tissues between the cells, and they clog our lymphatic system. If the lymph isn’t moving the debris out of our bodies, we can begin to feel sick. All this toxic buildup eventually affects our energy, mood, sleep, mental clarity, and [here’s the big one…] immune function. We may feel sick, tired, and depressed. If we continue in this decline, we may get a disease.”

Below is an excerpt from Natural Cures “They” Don’t Want You to Know About by Kevin Trudeau

“Still not convinced that right now your body is loaded with toxins causing you all types of illness, disease, depression, stress and anxiety? Then consider this:

A study showed that traces of industrial strength fire retardant have turned up in wild and farm raised salmon around the world. Farm raised salmon has been found to have troubling level of PCBs, a known cancer causing agent. When you eat this food, the toxins go inside you!

The newspaper The Daily Mail reported ready to eat salad linked with birth defects. Cancer hazard is in packed salad.” The article goes on to expose how premixed ready-to-eat salad is washed with chlorine. The chlorine is bad enough, but it combines with chermicals naturally present in lettuce to create chlorine byproducts which can be even more hazardous to your health.

The government has found traces of rocket fuel chemical in milk, green leaf lettuce, and drinking water. The government also acknowledges that these chemicals adversely affect the thyroid, which potentially can make you fat and lead to dozens of other diseases.

The Associated Press reports that flame retardant is found in Lake Michigan. The article goes on to say that the amount of chemicals found in supermarket food, and even women’s breast milk, is alarming. Studies suggest that high levels of these chemicals cause liver and thyroid damage, meaning that you are toxic and these chemicals cause disease.

Reuters reports that air around indoor swimming pools is harmful to children’s lung cells. Researches believe that exposure to chlorine byproducts in air around indoor swimming pools harms respiratory cells.

USA Today reports that air pollution from other countries drifts into the United States. We breath in more toxins today than ever before in history. These toxins stay in our body and cause disease.”

On top of all of the environmental toxins we encounter and ingest (through our lungs, skin, and digestive tract, toxic substances can result from our food sitting around too long in our intestines.

And from Norman Walker, D.Sc., Ph.D.----

“Your body is the house in which you live, By analogy, it is just like the building in which you make your home, Your home needs, at the very least, periodic attention. The roof may leak, the plumbing may get out of order and clog up, termites may drill through the floors and walls, and other innumerable cases of deterioration may make their appearance…
…The kind and the quality of the food you put into your body is of vital importance to every phase of your existence. Good nutrition regenerates and rebuilds the cells and tissues which constitute your physical body. Undigested food, and the processes by which waste matter is eliminated by the body, without fermentation and putrefaction, is dependent as well on good nutrition. The possibility of attaining any degree of vibrant health is prevented if such fermentation occurs, accumulates, and is retained by the body. The elimination of undigested food and other waste products is equally important as the proper digestion and assimilation of food. In fact, I can think of nothing more significant and vital than preventing the danger of inevitable effects of toxemia and toxic poisons that are a result of the neglect and failure to expel feces, debris, and waste matter from the body. Few of us realize that failure to effectively eliminate waste products from the body causes so much fermentation and putrefaction in the large intestine, or colon, that neglected accumulation of such waste can, and frequently does, result in a lingering demise!” –Norman W Walker, D.SC., Ph.D.

“The original design of the human body is as it has always been. We put food in our body. The nutrition is absorbed into our body. Finally, what is left - exits - the body.
Many of the health problems that we “live” with are problems we can control by getting rid of what should be moving through our systems, not collecting in them.”
-Carolyn Hoffmann

So, that was ridiculously long, but thank you for reading it. These words really inspired me to take control of my own body and health, and I hope they did the same for you. The next post will be infinitely more optimistic, and more about me, I promise! I will try my best to give advice on how to stop the toxic overload. But, I want to be clear that I do not believe that this is the sole cause of disease. There are a few other things, like parasites, that should be addressed. I will talk about that in a future post.

Have a good week everyone!
