I have been hearing a lot lately about mesothelioma, but never really knew what kind of disease it was. What I found out was that it is a type of cancer which is mostly caused by asbestos exposure. Inhaling these fibers will eventually lead to Mesothelioma. It may take even up to half a lifetime before it manifests itself, but it will.
It seems like there are two types of Mesothelioma: the first one is called Pleural Mesothelioma and affects the sacs around the lungs and the second type is also referred to as peritoneal mesothelioma which attacks the cells of the membrane surrounding the abdominal organs. Either way, it causes pain and discomfort in the affected areas.
Most people may not even be aware that they suffer from this disease; the symptoms are very common and often contributed to another illness. When it finally is determined that they have mesothelioma prognosis is often not very good. In spite of all the treatments, it more so then not turns out to be a lethal disease.
There is hope though; some have survived it. They are blessed to be able to help and share with those who are confronted with it at present and in the future.
