I'm Back

Posted Sep 22 2009 11:20am
Wow, it's been a long time! I have no excuse for disappearing without any warning, I'm sorry!
The reason I haven't been blogging is that I have been out of town. I had the amazing opportunity to go on a study abroad program this past June. It was a 4 week English program in London and after the program I stayed in Italy with a friend and her family for 2 weeks.

Before I left I wasn't completely pain-free and I knew I would have to start taking ibuprofen again and possibly prednisone during the trip. I was right, I took a bunch while I was over there, but it was worth it. I was able to push myself and do things I didn't know I could do, like walk for 2 hours straight on concrete touring the city, or stay out of bed and off the couch for a full 12 hour day! It was really tough; I got so homesick that I would think about coming home early, and I had to take some days off just to rest, but I did it and I feel more empowered now than ever just because I know how much I can actually push myself without dying!

Anyway, I've stopped taking the ibuprofen and prednisone now and I'm back to eating properly. I am not feeling good at all...jet lag is not fun, and the arthritis has my wrists and fingers throbbing. Something kind of new is that I feel like I'm trying to walk through water, which is probably a combination of the inflammation and jet-lag.

My game plan is to eat as many fruits and veggies as possible, some lentil soup, and roast beef (grass fed) for a few days and then begin the Arise and Shine Cleanse 28 again. I'm avoiding nightshades, dairy, gluten, citrus, and sugar for now.

I'll post some pictures from the trip tomorrow!
