How often do doctors have to break up scar tissue after shoulder replacement surgery?

Hello,

I am a physical therapist.  It is not uncommon for shoulders to become very stiff after surgery or injuries.  The conditon is called frozen shoulder or adhesive capsulitis. I hope that as part of your treatment you have been receiving aggressive physical therapy to stretch the shoulder.  You should be very consistent at doing your stretches at home, even though they hurt.  When doctors 'break up scar tissue' the possibility of it coming back and the shoulder becoming very stiff again is high.

For more information about this issue and exercises to improve your shoulder range of motion, visit:

Hope this helps.
