Hello, My dad (61 years old) has had three hip replacements and he suffers today.

Hello,

My dad (61 years old) has had three hip replacements on the same hip over a 6 month period. It is now 5 months since the last surgery. The reason for the second surgery was infection and the reason for the third was that the muscle was not attached to the hip.

Today, my dad suffers from severe pain and can barely walk, he is still dependent on crutches. He has major trouble with getting up from chairs and his hip is in general not in a great shape. He suffers specifically from a very stiff hip and pain in his thigh/hip area.

The doctors can not find anything wrong, but it is given that three rapid surgeries in the same area is not good for the recovery phase.
In general, what are his options today? Are there any injections, steroids, new treatments etc that might help him? Any general recommendations?
He tries to bike on a stationary every day and he does his rehab exercises daily. He has tried any swimming yet.

Kind Regards,

Anders, concerned son.
