Don't Shop Till You Drop! Shopping Tips II

Posted Jan 10 2010 2:26pm
Here are a few more tips to make grocery shopping more enjoyable, less straining and less exhausting:

- If walking gives you too many problems then use the electric shopping carts which are available at most grocery stores. The regular shopping carts lend themselves very well as a support keeping your balance and to lean on.

- Plastic bags can cut in your fingers or put a lot of strain on them. Carrying handles widen the grip and distribute the weight which makes carrying those plastic bags easier on your hands and fingers.

- You can ask someone else to do the groceries for you and even have the store deliver them to your house. Many grocery stores offer this service and it does not cost you an arm and a leg either.

- In case you can not carry heavy things then ask the cashier to put less items in the bags; that makes loading and unloading them a lot easier.

- Upon your return home, don't try to put it away all at once; just put up the items which need to be refrigerated or kept frozen. Take breaks while putting away all the other groceries; doing it this way will keep you from overdoing.

- From experience I know that I don't have the energy anymore to cook a meal after done an extensive grocery trip. It is a smart idea to have a meal ready when getting back.

There are many things we can do ourselves to make life easier, but as I mentioned before: we can not do it all by ourselves. Especially when situations or problems arise and we have done all we can do then we have to put our faith and trust in God. It will all be resolved in His time.

Psalm 28:7
The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.
