could Vioxx have caused long term muscle weakness and arthritis type symptoms?

My Dad was on Vioxx for about 6 months, and was taken off just before it was pulled - about the time the first reports started surfacing. Although he is 82 now and we realize some things are just gonna be, he was very strong and active until 5 years ago. So, any possible relation?
