Can you tell me about surgery to treat a stress fracture in my fibula and the approximate down time I should expect?

I fractured my fibula 1yr ago and was miss diagnosed with tendonitis. About 10wks ago I have since learned that it is a fracture and after being in an aircast 24-7 and using a bone stimulator 2x a day it has not healed. My doctor thinks I need a screw in it and I was hoping you could tell me more about the surgery and what to expect with recovery. I have a career where I am always on my feet and need to be prepared for how much work I will miss after the surgery.
