A family member was in an automobile accident and sustained a hand injury. After several months she manifested enough pain that her physician had an x-ray taken. He discovered a small amount of osteoarthritis in her hand. We feel that she actually developed the arthritis due to the hand injury. Is there any way to tell how old arthritis is by the use of x-rays? Any publications or studies would be greatly appreciated.
