I know I’ve been pimping other people’s blogs a lot, but I keep stumbling across ones that are really interesting. This one, written by a woman in Saudi Arabia, is really interesting. It’s just a Saudi woman writing about her day-to-day lives and things that interest her, much as I do, but her experience couldn’t me more different than mine.
For example, she writes about child brides , a horrific and pedophilic rite, because it happens in her country. Maybe that kind of thing happens here, too, but it’s just not on my radar. My own concerns are very different than hers, but it’s kind of great to be able to read about them.
She has a great writing style, too. I particularly like the last sentence in the post “Dirty seven letter words”:
In Saudi, if you would like to be dismissed and have everything you write or say never taken seriously, all you have to do is to declare yourself a liberal or secularist. That’s it. You’re done. You might as well be screaming in a thunder storm.
