Yoga is truly amazing and benefits mind, body and spirit. Within the philosophy of yoga, the spine’s flexibility really does determine the age of a person, much more than chronology ever can: Yoga enables the slowing down of the aging process because by retaining the elasticity of the spine, by toning the skin, by getting rid of accumulated stress in the body and by strengthening and correcting posture. With yoga, you are trading old age for youth.

Moreover, the benefits of yoga will heighten one’s own, mental prowess, one’s awareness. All of these benefits of course lead to a healthier life which means a longer life span.
According to Dr. Paul Galbraith, author of ‘Reversing Aging’:
Here are the health benefits of yoga:

Yoga has tremendous positive effects on the organs, the spine, the brain and the glands.

Yoga induces a healthy body by increasing immunity to diseases, from common colds and it is said, even to cancer.

Yoga has a marked effect on the adrenal, thyroid, pituitary and sex glands, creating a sensation of well-being and promoting the prevention of aging as well as extending one’s virility.

Yoga reduces facial wrinkles and firms up the face naturally. Because the postures reverse the force of gravity, they result in better toned facial muscles which act as a natural face-lift.
Yoga postures can even turn gray hair back to their original or slowdown their appearance. This comes about by increasing blood flow to the hair follicles. Increased flexibility of the neck for example produced by the asanas (postures) will reduce pressure on the blood vessels which causes an increased blood flow to the scalp. The scalp muscles thus tend to relax. Hair follicles are therefore far more nourished with thicker hair often resulting from it.
Yoga enables you to both, look and feel younger as at will take years off from your appearance and internal organs; you will look and feel ageless.

In order to function well, vision and hearing must receive an adequate supply of blood. The nerves supplying eyes and ears pass through the neck but with time, the neck looses it’s flexibility very much like the spine therefore resulting in a tendency for nerves and blood vessels to see their supply reduced. Yoga postures and yoga neck exercises improve this condition producing both better eyesight and hearing.

Yoga will make you feel a lot more confident about yourself and more enthusiastic in general. Creativity is often the result in everyday life. In ‘Vivekananda: The Yoga and Other Works:
Swami Nikhilananda wrote: “The result of hatha yoga is simply to make men live long. Health is the chief idea, the one goal of hatha yoga. He is determined not to fall sick, and he never does. He lives long. A hundred years is nothing for him; but he is quite young and fresh when he is one hundred and fifty, without one hair turned gray.”
It is also well documented that the practice of yoga will lead one to concentrate better and to feel calmer, reducing stress at an amazing rate. Before long, even the organs will start to rejuvenate from all this well-being.It is easy to see why yoga possesses so many healthy advantages; furthermore, it is within reach of most of us, costing little and benefiting everyone, regardless or age.
