What is happening?

Posted by Jetty21

Hello,

I am a 22 year old male and have been having Sternum pains for the last 6 months or so and it is finally getting to me more than ever. I have been to many doctors and hospitals and they have all told me the same things that it is nothing to worry about and I get sent home :(

I have been told I have mild ashtma but for all day long?

I have had ECG, Blood, Urine, Xray Tests and all come back clear to anything but why is the pain their?

I have a Bone or I can feel the bone of my sternum quite well and at 55KG it is not unheard of, Now to add to that I have also hard like an Aortic Flutter not an Atrial Flutter or down towards to Asophigus and that has gone now but I was getting that for a while and the doctor said it was more to do with my weight than anything.

I also suffer anxiety but I do not want to pass this down as that as It could be more serious and with the shortness of breath at times it seems to be more than just Anxiety :(

I have had like 4 ECG tests and all were normal nothing wrong and all clear. I have no Cardiac issues I have been told and it does not run in the family at all but I think alot about my heart being the cause or am I stressing over too much?

What can you suggest I do?

Had all tests I know I can have, Still have the pains and are told it is Anxiety, Growing Pains and so on. What is the real cause here?

There are no pathology tests for anxiety disorder. Mostly, doctors reach the conclusion that a patient has a disorder by ruling out the possible organic cause for the symptoms presented. I don't know if your doctor has made that determination yet, but in the apparent absence of anything significant apart a degree of asthma and some weight related symptoms, anxiety looks a strong possibility.

I suggest you need to discuss this at length with your doctor, and if it is mostly anxiety, begin treatment. Given this has been getting steadily worse over 6 months, the odds are that it won't simply resolve itself. The longer anxiety disorders are allowed to progress the more difficult they become to treat.

Best wishes

Ian
