There is no pain involved, it is not TMJD. I had four teeth pulled before getting braces when I was eleven years old. When I speak, I can feel that I am forming words incorrectly with my lips, but there is nothing that I can do about it. I am self-conscious about my mouth with every syllable that I say. It causes me considerable stress.
I can't comment on whether there is a physical problem with your mouth. That is something you should have checked by a physician.
But it is obviously causing you considerable stress. If the underlying problem is physical then hopefully getting treatment would go a long way to resolving that stress. Have you sought treatment?
It is possible that the problem is mainly psychological, perhaps stemming from the dental procedure at age 11 and the fitting of braces, and being compounded by self consciousness. If so, then perhaps a good starting point may be consulting a speech therapist to help you with the mechanics of speech, and maybe following up with a few psychotherapy sessions. Your doctor should be able to recommend both a speech and psychotherapist, if needed.
