Life Through The Eyes of My Daughter

Within the past couple of years I've really gotten hooked on cooking. I began by collecting Cook Books of my favorite chefs. Some turned out to be better than others. My favorite chef at the moment is Giada De Laurentis. She offers simple Italian recipes that everyone will enjoy. I appreciate Barefoot Contessa's recipes, but find them to be high in calories and fat. But if you really want a decadent dish, full of abundant flavor and richness, then she is your "go-to" gal. I save her for special occasions. So far I've tried dishes from Tyler Florence, Sunny Anderson, Giada of course, Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa) and Bobby Flay to name a few. Because I've become somewhat of a cooking aficionado, I've had to open the pocket book for the appropriate supplies required to prepare such meals. It adds up, so I spread it out within reason. My husband doesn't seem to mind too much since it's an investment in his ravenous appetite. I've come to realize that I'm not so keen on baking, as I find it very tedious and monotonous. That's not to say I don't have a sweet tooth, because I certainly do! Since moving to Orange County a couple of months ago, I've become very disappointed in our options for dining out. I miss Los Angeles for that reason, because there you could easily venture upon a great new restaurant. That's probably why I find myself in the kitchen more now then ever...I love good food too much and have decided to take matters into my own hands. I'm going to a Barefoot Contessa themed party tomorrow night and will post some photos - I'm preparing a Potato and Fennel Gratin. Until then...
