My friend has never had anxiety attacks before that i know of, and all of a sudden she’s supper serious about her weight. I haven’t seen her eat a single thing in a week, and now she’s having a lot of anxiety attacks. i’m nervous for her. is there a relation between the two?
There is a definite physiological connection between anorexia and anxiety attacks. When one fails to eat properly the blood sugar levels in the body drop significantly. Low blood sugar can cause irritability as well as high anxiety. From a psychological perspective anytime you deprive the body of needed sustenance for prolonged periods of time it is not unusual for the subconscious mind to recognize this as dangerous and rebel accordingly.
