I googled this medicine and some people said it worked great but others said it was hard for them to breathe, made them hallucinate, or made their face go numb. I am just so scared to take it now after researching it. I am breastfeeding and it's said to be safe for that but I don't know how to get myself to take it now with all of the info I have read about it. I need help with anxiety though. Please help!!
me myself have never takin it but i have and still do take xanax i was scared to take mine to i had it and never took it for 3 months and now i take it and it works wonders i dont really worrie bout much but the anxiety is still there
pips41009, I believe you mean Vistaril (Hydroxyzine) which is an anti histamine more commonly used to treat allergies and nausea. It is also also been found effective for mild to moderate anxiety. It is less likely to cause you problems than many other anti anxiety medications. Some antidepressants are also strong anti histamines, however, they work by an entirely different mode of action.
Unfortunately, med phobia is a freebie that people with anxiety disorders, me included, and it stops many from taking medications that could change their lives for the better. All medications may have potential side effects, but that doesn't mean that all those taking them will experience them.
Benadryl (Diphenhydramine) is an over-the-counter anti histamine that has been used to ease mild anxiety. Perhaps taking it for a few days will help ease your concerns. If it doesn't cause you any problems then Vistaril is unlikely too. If you still can't take it then I urge you to go back to the prescribing doctor and tell him/her of your concerns. It is important that anxiety disorders are treated asap.
Thank you for your reply. I went back to my doctor and told him that I was just too scared to take it. My panic attacks were ruining my life. I am on xanax now and it seems to be helping so I am going to try it for a little while. I know it's an addictive drug but I had to do something. I am not able to breastfeed anymore but I am able to take care of my daughter and that is more rewarding to me. Thank you so much for your information. I feel like I am finally on the road to recovery. :)
