achilles problems

I run to keep fit but I am struggling because I  have very tight muscles in my left leg and in particular in my achilles.  It is to a point where I struggle to put my heel on the floor when my foot is flat. I quite often end up on tip toes. I do stretch and have had treatment but it is still a problem. If I stretch it makes it easier but I only have to sit down and it is a problem again.
