Hey! I'm Amy and after obtaining my Masters in Nutrition at Columbia University's Institute of Human Nutrition in New York, I worked alongside an award winning chef as well as, currently, write for dietitians and nutrition publications. It fused my two passions in life- health and food; everyone I spoke to seemed intrigued by my passions and simple party meet and greets turned into hour long coversations. So I took the advice of my family and peers and did what everyone seemed to already be doing- I began blogging and TheCrunchyCarrot.com was up and running.
We all eat but there are two sides to every story- a dietitian will tell you it's simple, eat this and avoid that and a chef will tell you how delicious and mouth-watering a dish is that you just have to have a bite of. For most of us, staying healthy means following the same basic plan of attack- everything in moderation. But it's more than that. I love food just as much as the next guy, however truth be told, we are what we eat. Since when does that mean we can't eat delicious, healthful dishes? So on The Crunchy Carrot I do just that, fuse good food with food that's good for you. Living in NYC and being part of the culinary industry, I am constantly presented with food trends and amazing restaurants, and trust me it's hard to resist- so instead I revamp and recreate what I want but know I shouldn't have. I lead a healthful lifestyle, one which I document through food, nutrition news, recipe makeovers and fitness tips and trends on my blog. Check it out!
