Happy Thanksgiving to all of you who might be reading this. I spoke to Jane last evening, (Nov. 23, Tuesday). Don has been in a rehab facility recovering from a compression fracture. He fell a couple of weeks ago at home, and thus, the rehab stint. Jane is doing better physically, and they have regular nursing caregivers coming daily, beginning yesterday, the 23rd. Their friends and family continue to offer and give significant support to Jane and Don when it is needed. Jane is hopeful Don will be able to continue to visit a support center where he is able to interact with folks in various activities. He was sleeping yesterday when I called, so I didn't have a chance to speak to him. Jane sounded a bit tired, but hopeful that a new rhythm to their stage lives is just beginning. This is where we are as we continue this part of the trip over.
Thanksgiving is a time of reflection, family, friends, and just being thankful. Life is such a tenuous trip for all of us. So today on this Thanksgiving eve, maybe it is good to just revel in life as it is, and also to remember the good of it as it has been. I hope all of you can find a moment in the busy-ness of your lives to say thanks for today. Even if it is not what you had hoped it might be. It is life, and life is a gift.
