Long-term care insurance of the past earned a tarnished reputation - at best. Many policies didn't pay for much because of all the loopholes. People thought they were covered in ways that they weren't.

It is a whole new world. You still need to be very aware of what you are buying, but even the government is encouraging people to buy long-term care insurance to help defray the costs of our care as we age. Many policies cover in-home care, not just nursing home care.
