On Saturday, Lisa, one of the aides who previously cared for Muddear during the day came to visit. Recently, Lisa experienced several scheduling conflicts that prohibited her from caring for Flossie full time, so we were assigned a new aide about one month ago. On Saturday morning when Lisa called to ask if she could bring Muddear an Easter basket, I was overwhelmed with gratitude. Muddear has very few living relatives and of those living very few that bother to call or come visit. The basket was adorable! It was pink - Muddear's favorite color; and was filled with a pastel bunny, Hersey's kisses, peeps, a chocolate bunny, and jellybeans. When Lisa gave the basket to Muddear, you should have seen the joy on her face. It was priceless! Muddear was ecstatic and could do nothing but laugh and proclaim how excited she was. It made her day to receive this gift and to be able to share her goodies with everyone in the house.
It just goes to show, in this world where materialism rules, that it is truly the simple things that mean the most. Lisa took the time out of her busy schedule to conduct an act of kindness that put the biggest smile on the face of a 95 year old woman. To see it was a blessing.
