Early Onset Alzheimer's Blog

Posted Aug 03 2009 2:44pm

I began blogging two years ago about early onset Alzheimer's. My husband, Jim, developed dementia at age 49 and passed away ten years later.

In 2007, I collected and edited 37 true stories for Alzheimer's Anthology of Unconditional Love. This spring, my 2008 Blog posts were released in  Early Onset Blog: Essays from an Online Journal. My current project is a book on therapeutic writing.

Writing my blog has been cathartic for me and a testimony of what a huge impact dementia had on my life. Losing my husband to the world of dementia was the most tragic thing that has happened to me, but because of dementia, I became motivated to become an Alzheimer's Association volunteer, advocate, support group leader, memory walk coordinator, ambassador, and to write about our experiences. I've published some of the stories from Jim's memoir in Alzheimer's Anthology and in Cup of Comfort.

Some of my posts are serious and others humorous. After all, Maxine is one of my role models. Visit http://earlyonset.blogspot.com and feel free to comment on any of the 91 posts.
