Finally dementia caregiving gets the attention it deserves with the Newsweek cover story called "Caregiving & Alzheimer's".
The unique challenges that baby boomers face as dementia caregivers has triggered a new sub-category which the Newsweek piece calls "caregiver activists." Baby boomers, who are no shrinking violets, see the predicted increases of dementia and feel compelled to join the fight to push for more research funds. Some become amateur lobbyists while others join existing groups like the Alzheimer's Association. Many are already caring for relatives with some form of dementia but even while performing caregiving duties, they are looking ahead and seeing their own possible fate.
Kudos to Newsweek for featuring this incredibly important topic. Click here to read the whole cover story.
