My experience with Alzheimer’s has been through the years of caring for my Mom, and visiting the members of the “Group Home” where she spent the last few years of her life. Everyone there was elderly and despite knowing better–Most often I think of those elderly faces when I think of Alzheimer’s.
As a member of Memory People™ (the Alzheimer’s support group on Facebook), I certainly know better. Everyday more and more young folks are struggling with the symptoms of Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease (EOAD), the youngest being diagnosed at 30 years old.
Memory People™ is a “closed” group, providing privacy for those members. Rick Phelps, the founder of Memory People, has created a support and awareness group for all those who have been touched by Alzheimer’s or memory impairment. They welcome patients, caregivers, advocates, and anyone who wants to know more about these diseases.
If you’d like to join the group, you may type “Memory People” into your Facebook search bar and click on ‘join group‘. If you’d like more information about joining this groups you can also visit: Memory People Fan Page.
