Any other food allergic mom out there staying close to the phone/checking that all five bars are showing on your cell/ or casually dropping by the school to volunteer around lunchtime? No? Oh, yeah, me neither...
I think lunch is the most stressful part of sending my son off to school. I am a chronic worrier and school lunch is one of my top issues, because of all the different possible ways this meal could go wrong. I pack my son’s lunch everyday single day. With school starting in one week, I’ve been on the hunt to find some great lunch box ideas for the kiddo. Here are my top three finds:
One interesting lunch idea is the bento box. The bento box is common in the Japanese culture. The lunch box usually contains a main dish of rice, meat or fish and then various sides. I found many sites that sparked my lunch-time imagination; however, the laptop lunches site is my favorite for bento-inspired lunches. Click here to view some pictures from these kid friendly bento lunch boxes.
My next lunch resource to the rescue is parenting.com. They have an article that gives ten great lunch ideas (with pics). There is even mention of peanut allergies! Click here to view it.
And finally my all time favorite lunch box site is coffeeandvanilla.com. The site holds a “Wholesome Lunch Round Up” each month. The lunches can be viewed on flicker and they have some of the best ideas! Click here to view it.
