What non-penycillin antibiotic treatment is suggested for a bacterial infection & excessive upper throat & Eustacion tube mucus?

Severe Congestion:

I have excessive thick mucus production in the upper throat & after checking a reference guide it seems this is congesting the Eustachian.  I cannot blow out through the nose, because this causes too much strain on my ears. This is eased a few hours at a time by nasal drops. I now use a nasal decongestant tablet as the condition is persisting, to prevent damage from nasal drops to my nasal passages.  This started three weeks ago. I have not had a temperature, but I did have some cold-like symptoms a few days before this thick mucus began and it was initially diagnosed as sinusitis, then rhinitis.  I have also been using Phenodrone which eases mucus production.  Several times a day I need to extract the mucus by holding one side of my nose and inhaling rapidly to release some of the trapped mucus into my throat and then dispose of it. I repeat this for the other nose. Is this otitus media?
