I read an article by Emily Perl Kingsley entitled, “Welcome to Holland”. The story is about the emotional complexities of parenting a child with a disability. I found that as I read the article, it rang true to me as a parent raising a child with food allergies. I found myself thinking about how I feel as others describe their dining and travel experiences with their children. The complete and utter ease with-which non-food allergic families can grab a bite to eat or fly on a plane is a privilege they don’t even know they possess.
