treatment for occluded cephalic vein

Posted by brat06

I have an I.V. inserted in my left antecubital for less than  24 hours.  I recieved D5 (saline with %5 sugar) an I also was given Zofran & Phenagran for severe nausea.

A week late my bicep has doubled in size, very warm to the touch an is reddis in color.  An ultra-sound was completed and showed the cephalic vein was completely occluded from just slightly past the insertion point of the I.V. to the  top of my shoulder.

I get numbness & tingling in my hand and fore arm, with severe sharp electrical like pain from elbow to shoulder.

Shoul I expect anything else?
