Recently I spent a bit more than a week, in Scotland! I used to live in Scotland when I was younger, and am beginning to think that it may well be my spiritual home. Why else would I keep going back? I've been twice in the last year! Not often, I hear you say! Well, no! Untill you do the maths, the UK is a small island, relatively. However I live in the extreme South, the region of Scotland I keep travelling to is in the extreme North-West. Hmmmmm! And Yes! I have looked at property prices and areas during my travels ... also sounded my husband out, to see how he feels about moving North
The picture above is the Ben Nevis range, close to Fort William. This is the area of Scotland I love. I only discovered my affinity with mountains recently. The first range I visited were the French and Italian Alps, when I realised how much I loved being in the mountains. If you've never been to the mountains, visit Chamonix, in France .... you'll never want to content yourself with living on the 'flat' again
During my latest visit to Scotland, I decided I wanted to do an ascent of some sort of the Ben Nevis range. Somewhat interesting, considering my paranoid fear of heights. I managed to get myself into a cable car to ascend a mountain fairly close to Ben nevis. So, using a combination of mind over matter and keeping my eyes closed. Also the promise of hot chocolate with Bailey's when I got to 2100 ft. The hot chocolate was divine .... and from 2100 ft this is what I could see (below)!
