The Farmers Market is held once a month in Southsea and this year they turned the May Farmers Market into The Southsea Festival of Food, sponsored by Portsmouth City Council. The festival was from 10 am to 3 pm, during which time there was a full programme of cooking demonstations in an aopen air theatre kitchen in the Palmerston Road pedestrian precint. There was something to appeal to all ages, with the children being entertained with face painting, story telling, wizards on stilts and music. Oh and for the foodies around, there were free samples everywhere!!!!
If this is going to turn into an annual event on the food calender, I for one would continue to support it, maybe I should do a gluten free food stand next year ... on second thoughts, maybe not!. This food festival has made a superb start!
I bought GF gnocchi from the Bookham Cheese and Pasta Company , based at Twineham, Sussex. I was suprised to fine GF gnocchi as I had looked all over the place for GF gnocchi and more or less given up on finding any. This contains potatoe flour and rice flour
I also bought some New Forest Blue cheese, which is a bit like Stilton and is produced by Loosehanger Cheeses , at Redlynch Nr Salisbury.
