Savoy Cabbage with Onions and Wholespice

Posted Sep 12 2008 8:50am
I think my family really love me at the moment. I'm experimenting a bit with vegetables and spice in a throw together fashion. So gone seem to be the days of vegetables boiled in salted water ...

1 savoy cabbage, shredded
1 small english onion, peeled and sliced
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp coriander / cilantro seeds
Splash of olive oil
Knob of butter

Add the cabbage to a small amount of boiling water (about three quarters of an inch depth in the pan), no salt. Add the pan lid, effectively the cabbage is going to steam in the limited amount of water, stir ever couple of minutes to make sure it is all steaming
At the same time, dry fry the corriander and cumin seeds for a few minutes in a wok, add the oil and onions, fry at a low heat untill the onions are turning brown
When the cabbage is cooked, about 10-15 minutes, strain the water away and add the cabbage to the onion spice mix in the wok, add a knob of butter and stir fry for a few minutes
Serve
