Our First CSA Summer

Posted Aug 25 2008 8:05pm
Fall is just around the corner (isn't it?) and I'm happy to report that this summer we have enjoyed our CSA (community supported agriculture) share from Yellow Wood Farms . Actually, it's been better than I anticipated. We've gotten zucchinis, cabbage, eggplants, onions, peppers, potatoes, carrots, beets, and field greens! Every week, we go over to a neighbors to pick it up. My kids and I look forward to this weekly ritual, which gives them a surprise to look forward to and a scheduled playdate with their friends. They love inspecting our box of veggies to see what's in it and... they want to try EVERY single thing (okay, not the onions). They've nibbled on the field greens, lettuce, even beats! I've been mixing zucchinis into everything! And we've made "cabbage" wraps twice already! It's never been so easy to get my kids to try new GREEN food. I think the fact that it's fresh from the farm and totally tasty makes a big difference!
