New Safe Cookies...and A Few Questions

Posted Sep 17 2010 7:35am

I spent the last week with a very sweet friend of mine who owns her own cookie baking business . To say she's talented is putting it too mildly. She's amazing!!

As we spoke, we discovered how easy it would be for her to have a nut free bakery. Really, she already did. I just educated her on a few things and she was able to declare herself "nut free!". With that, she was excited to help a community of people (uhhh....us!) that normally don't get to indulge in beautiful, professional baked goods.

After helping her, I was able to bring home a few cookies for my two nut allergy guys to try out. They loved them! Tyler had never had anything like it. He squealed when he realized how beautiful and safe it was. It was a priceless moment in his food allergy journey.

Like I said, her bakery is nut free. I've been there and baked with her. It's safe for all of my readers!! If you would like to order something amazing for your nut allergic child (or yourself), check out her blog or send me an email (peanutallergykid@gmail.com). (Note: Her bakery was not always peanut free so some of her older posts state this.)

I cannot highly recommend my friend Ronee highly enough! You know if I feed it to Tyler, I feel 100% comfortable with it. I also rarely endorse things on this blog, particularly food. But when someone goes out of their way to accommodate nut allergies, I take note.

Now....

For the questions: If you deal with more than a nut allergy, what do you deal with? What do you need from a bakery like this to feel comfortable? Ronee wants to try to accommodate many types of allergies.

Please, take a few moments to shoot me an email, leave a comment on this post, or leave a comment on Ronee's blog. We want to know what you need to be able to hear you child squeal like mine did!
