my grandson has hives all over his body and white spots on his tongue, the doctor prescribed benadryl but told us nothing that h

He is 3 years old, the hives are like big red blotches on his body, including his face. It hurts when he swallows, and he is waking up in the middle of the night in pain because of his mouth hurting.
