Is there a relationship with acid reflux and rash on newborns

Posted by Tammy

I work with the PAGER website and there is a mom from England writing about her 16wk old who has serious reflux issues and has developed a rash every time the doctors change the milk/formula/medicine.

Is there a correlation to acid reflux and are there any articles I can provide her?

I don't know of any documented evidence or articles off hand, but I do have personal experience with this. Food allergies can definitly cause acid reflux. I thought we were avoiding all of my daughter's allergens and she was put on Prevacid at the age of 2 because she had severe acid reflux. When we had her allergies tested we found out she was allergic to gluten which we were not previously aware of. After we cut all gluten out of her diet ai took her off of the prevacid and she has not needed it for 3 years now. If formula is causing problems the first two culprits I would check are dairy and soy, but a complete food allergy test would be a good idea.
