Is it possible to have a reaction to lidocaine injected before dental and surgical procedures?

Posted by h

After two dental procedures--Root Canal--tooth extraction, on either side of the jaw, and months apart, I experienced lasting intermitent pain without any sign of infection.  Between these procedures, I was injected with lidocaine for vein surgery which resulted in immediate burning, but subsequently over a month of healing had unusual pain and severe pain.    Since I have generally a high resistance to pain, I can only consider that I am having some reaction to the Lidocaine injections.
