How Do You Find Out What You Are Allergic To?

Posted Feb 18 2013 10:05pm

Do you feel like you’re allergic to everything? You sneeze, cough, wheeze, and itch and you just don’t know why. It can be very frustrating to try to find out just what it is you’re allergic to so you can avoid it. Allergy reactions are quite common. After all, it’s a toxic world we live in.

Types of Allergies

There are two major types of allergies; environmental and food.

  • Environmental

Allergy reactions from mold, pollen, dust, pet dander, and chemical toxins are quite common. Millions of people load up on antihistamines to keep from suffering.

  • Food

Food allergies are becoming more and more common as we eat more processed food and less whole, nutritious food. With wheat, corn, and soy products being largely genetically modified, our immune systems are being slowly destroyed and we are less and less able to eat anything without having an allergic reaction. The most common food allergies are wheat, gluten, lactose, food dyes, shellfish, peanuts, and citrus products.

Symptoms of Allergy Reactions

With environmental allergies, symptoms include:

  • Sneezing
  • Post-Nasal Drip
  • Itchy, Watery Eyes
  • Wheezing
  • Itchy Throat
  • Coughing
  • Skin Rashes

In the case of food allergies, allergy reactions can vary. If a person is truly allergic to a food, they can develop many of the above-mentioned symptoms. However, intolerance to a food can be more difficult to pin down because the reactions occur more slowly and progress over time.

Symptoms of food intolerance include:

  • Chronic Abdominal Pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Bloating
  • Flatulence
  • Muscle Pain
  • Fatigue
  • Chronic Yeast Infections
  • Brain Fog

These symptoms are most common in those with gluten intolerance. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye. People who are intolerant to this protein are unable to digest it. The immune system attacks the intestinal walls and chronic inflammation results.

How Do You Find Out What You Are Allergic To?

To effectively treat allergies instead of just masking the symptoms, it’s very important to know how to find out what you’re allergic to. You can clean the dust out of your house or attempt to do an elimination diet to find out which foods are bothering you, but trying to figure out what’s causing your allergy reactions can quickly become a full-time job.

If you’ve been struggling for months, years or even decades with horrible allergies and mystery symptoms, you might be ready to throw in the towel. Many conventional physicians treat only the symptoms of allergies without trying to get down to the cause.

Many patients have come to me as a last resort because they just don’t know what to expect from holistic medicine. They’re having a bunch of different allergy reactions at once and don’t know what to eliminate first.

For my patients with multiple suspected allergies, I prescribe two very important tests:

Alcat Comprehensive Wellness 1-Kit– The Alcat Comprehensive Wellness 1-Kit from Direct Labs takes the guesswork out of figuring out what you are allergic to. It tells you exactly which foods and chemicals you’re allergic to and how severely. All you have to do is get the test, take it to your nearest LabCorp Office and you’ll get the results within 7-11 business days.

Doctor’s Data Comprehensive Stool Analysis x 3DD Kit– Oftentimes, chronic allergies are caused by leaky gut syndrome, low stomach acid, and chronic candida infection. The Doctor’s Data Comprehensive Stool Analysis X 3DD Kit from Direct Labs evaluates for these common conditions while measuring dysbiotic bacteria, digestive enzymes, digestion capability, and even a count of all probiotics!

If you want to know how to find out what you are allergic to, these tests can literally save your life. Imagine a day without going through half a box of tissues in a sitting or being doubled over with stomach pain after you eat? You don’t have to suffer anymore. Your body has an amazing capacity to heal. All you have to do is give it the tools it needs to return to wellness.
