Do I have asthma?

For as long as I can remember, since I was a child, a few different times a year I suffer from tightness in my chest, shortness of breath, and sometimes even dizziness. In it's most severe form I vomit when it gets bad. My mother, grandmother (my mom's mother), and brother all suffer from asthma. My grandmother's is very severe and she's almost died twice from an attack--once she was even pronounced dead. However, other than the tightness and feeling that I cannot breath I am NOT coughing or wheezing as they all do with there asthma.
I am currently 12 weeks pregnant and am having issues. I had the same symptoms last year at this time. I'm wondering if I could be having allergy induced asthma since my allergies are also bothering me. I also have mitra-valve prolapse but have had my heart checked to make sure that has nothing to do with my tightness and shortness of breath. Do you think this could still be asthma though I never wheeze or cough? I've been prescribed Advere I think is the name but I do not use it because it never seemed to help my breathing. I know for certain it is not panic attacks or anything of the likes because it hits at times when I'm not upset or stressed over anything.
