been coughing from allergies for 8 weeks. Yesterday coughed so hard deep to my ribs hurt. what can it be?

Just started Clarinex with great relief.  Never had allergic rhinitis before.  Coughed so hard when I caught my breath I had pain deep to my ribs.  I can palpate rib cage with some discomfort but it feels more internal
