I quit drinking and smoking about two months ago.

Posted by nebulous mind

I was smoking way to much, as well as drinking far to much. I started having trouble sleeping at night, feelings of discofort in my chest, heart palpatations, sweats... anyhow, I quit and am feeling way better. Its been around two months since then and I have recently developed a weird skin ailment. My skin is really itchy and I have small redish patches on my chest and trunk. nothing severe, I guess you could say its mild, but I've always been known to be somewhat of a stress case. does anyone know what these symptoms could be?

i had something similar, though it began two weeks before I quit.  I had anxiety attacks thinking it was a number of things.  I went all over the internet trying to figure out what it was, and determined it was psoriasis ( it's an autoimmune disorder; some studies say the likelihood of getting this is increased in smokers and drinkers).  the dermatologist confirmed it.  He threw me some cortisol and it decreased the appearance of the red spots.  Look it up on the internet, and don't be too concerned about the diseases it says it is associated with (if you had them, it wouldn't be a mild breakout).  Also, go see a dermatologist as normal doctors I went to didn't have a clue.
