what supplements might be helpful for a weak man with no appetite who must eat?

my relative is in rehab to strengthen his muscles which have deteriorated from lack of use due to severe emphysemia. he is on an anti-depressant, which is somewhat helpful, but has no appetite and MUST gain weight. he did not do well with prescribed medication for this. what supplements might be helpful?
