
The answer is it depends on whether or not you and your parent signed any legal agreements regarding care.
I dont know where you live so it may also depend on where you reside.
I suggest you consult with an elder care attorney about this.

I am the adult child of a parent who being treated for possible kidney cancer. His wife is afraid to ask the doctor questions or insist on speedy testing. She relays no information to me and when I ask questions only tells me that is the way it works. Can I contact the doctor? Can I seek a second opinion for him or at least find a doctor willing to take the biopsies in a more speedy manner?
