My husband is still coughing up green goo from RSV he's had since Jan 22 - is he still contagious to 80 year old parents?

Posted by momof2

We all as a family came down with RSV around Jan 21 and 22.  We have 2 small children, ages 3 and 1 (3 year old got it from church).  My husband and I both developed sinus infections, but I started on antibiotics first because I was watching for it.  He started later, but is allergic to penicillin, so after this first go-round, he is still coughing up green goo.  It will have been 3 weeks since the first onset this Friday, and we would like to see my husband's parents this weekend.  They are in their 80's and cannot afford to get this.  The kids are NOT sneezing or coughing, no fevers, and good to go except for a little diarrhea due to the antibiotics for ear infections.  I am coughing a little bit.  Are we contagious after 3 weeks if we are coughing?  Especially my husband?  Need to know to do the right thing.  Thank you so much for taking the time to answer.  Nurse in the family says yes, but I am not sure....
