Tropical Storm Ernesto, struggling to hang on to its status after a rough night over the mountains of Eastern Cuba, is set to come ashore in South Florida overnight. While Ernesto will probably knock out power to thousands, it will be no comparison to Katrina or even Wilma of 2005.
Ernesto has had one major impact, however. Folks in South Florida GOT READY. Good thing, too. While TV screens repeatedly show the same radar loop of the Florida Straits over and over again, things are picking up off the coast of Western Africa along the intertropical convergence zone. Mother (and Father) Nature start getting busy this time of year. In fact, the peak of hurricane season is still 2 weeks away. Don't be suprised if we haven't tracked and prepared for Florence, Gordon, Helene and Isaac by the middle of September.
At least we're ready.....I hope.
