does Medicare help pay for assisted living or nursing home for disabled ? To many $ for medicaid not enough for care

Wife has MS & stroke. No longer abel to care for self. can't walk, no memory. I have had lung cancer surgery in past, can no longer care for her on my own. Have sold home to pay bills. Now down to $170,000 in cash & assets plus pensions. Is there a program within Medicare to help or will I be stuck with paying down so in 10 years or less all assets used up? I will still have to much income from pensions and SS to qualify for Medicaid
